This is the only member of the party trio of the New Order era to compete in the era of democratic reform. The party that was founded in 1973 and even this should change the name because it failed to meet the original Electoral treshold (ET) in the 1999 elections.
Founder Indonesian Democracy Party (PPDI) called the Indonesian Democracy Party (PDI), which was established 11 January 1973, the coalition party some time. In the mid-1990s, the two split PDI, PDI Soerjadi who supported the government and Orba PDI Megawati supported the grassroots masses. Orba fall, make up a liberal Megawati PDI PDI Perjuangan.
Both parties are to compete in the 1999 election, and the result, which was PDIP. On the PDI should change the name because it failed to pass in the ET. PPDI change the name to be conducted 10 January 2003.
VISION & MISSION
1. Establishment of democracy Pancasila, namely democracy, political democracy, economic democracy and social culture, of dignity and civilized, which uphold human rights, in order to create social justice for all Indonesian people, polite, moral and democratic, and led by a promoter of the modern , skilled, honest, fair and authoritative, spirited by Pancasila as the basic philosophy and the state, the source of all sources of law and the amendment of the 1945 Constitution as the basic state law.
2. NKRI integrity realize that being considered in the governance community of nations in the world, with the political order to build a free, active, democratic, just and civilized
PENCAPAIAN PRIOR TO PEMILU:
1999 = 655,049 votes or 0.6% (2 seats in the House of Representatives) – still called PDI
2004 = 844,480 votes or 0.75% (1 seat in the House of Representatives)
